Flo-Rida Interview

Still RIDING High

Flo-Rida has become an easy target for hardcore Hiphop fans who deem his music too commercial and bordering on pop but like him or loathe him it doesn`t change the fact his records sell, even if it`s your 10 year old sis buying it, and other than that he`s one hell of a nice guy Partisan Menes we caught up with him to talk jobs, girls and going back to his roots.

How old were you when you first was introduced to Hip-Hop?
When I was around 11 years old I was a real big fan of 2 Live Crew. They had nice clothes and nice jewellery which attracted me. .

That`s how you`ve turned out now
Yeah kinda *laughs*
So did they inspire you?
Yeah they did, but it weren`t only them also my Dad inspired me alot musically because he played guitar and all types of music plus he sings as well.

What I like about you is you talk about having regular jobs instead of the usual drug dealing chat
Yes I had alot of regular jobs, when I lived in Las Vegas I dropped out of school, and I ended up working at the MGM Grand and they had me digging through thrash for like 3 dollars an hour, it was a graveshift job at night and I hated it, but I always kept my I eyes on the prize and here it is; we're successful baby.
You had a hard time in the beginning when you were coming up but you didn't quit, why was that?
My mom said keep faith and put God first, sacrifice be persistent, be patient and the sky is the limit. Never give up, never hold your head down, never fear no man, never trust anybody like the song on my album "R.O.O.T.S"
I heard it was a trip to Africa that inspired the title of your album R.O.O.T.S is that true?
Yeah, I did the MPD Awards there, it was the first time and it was a historical moment. I presented an award for best female artist and received an award, plus I opened and closed the show. The whole trip was mind blowing. I`m an African American so Africa is where my roots are.

You get alot of beats but how do you choose which one to write too?
It has to be something that inspires me and connects with me so I want to put lyrics on it.
Is that what happened with Your single "Right Round" what made you sample that song?
We chose that sample because it's classic and we made history selling over 600 000 units the first week, and I gotta thank the fans all over the world for making me number 1.
You have alot of big artists on your album, how was it working with Nelly Furtado, Akon and the others?
Shout out to Nelly Furtado for reaching out to me and wanting to be part of my album. They are definitely Icons in the game and inspire my music so I love working with them.
Tell me more about you album
Oh yeah, this album is a classic album we got Akon, Nelly Furtado, my girl Tasha, and a track produced by Will I Am called "Available" so ladies I'm definitely single. It's definitely a hot album so all my fans make sure you go out and cop it, go buy two, I mean I thank you guys because I couldn't be number 1 without you. I will continue to tour around the world and you can check me out MyContent.com.
And finally the last thing I wanna know, rumours say that you had a orgy with 11 girls in Hawaii? Is it true?
*laughs* We gone keep that on the low-low no comments.
Well next time hook a brother up lol.

The Rasheeda Interview

The Certified HOT CHICK

Urbaniti catches up with BOSS Chick Rasheeda, as she promotes her new album Certified Hot Chick in the UK

You`re widely known in the US but you`re not really known in the UK, so for the people who don`t know about you here`s your chance?
Well my name is Rasheeda I represent Atlanta, GA Im a female hip hop entertainer aka The Georgia Peach, Queen of Crunk, The Boss Chick.

Have you been rapping long?
10 years plus

Are there any artists that influenced?
Nah not really hip hop as a whole influenced & inspired me to want to create music and tell my stories & make people feel good like music did to me and the people around me when I was younger. There were a lot of artist who influenced me too many to name.
This is your fifth album what`s so different about this one?
It`s really good music with substance more diverse than my previous releases its a must have for women. The fellas will learn a lot about us on this album I speak on a lot of situations & issues us women go thru. The album is empowering, sexy, confident, intelligent, independent women’s music!
From your music I can tell, you`re about empowering women, Is it harder being a female rapper in the industry especially when you`re pretty?
It`s harder being a female in this industry anyway u slice it. Hip hop is male dominated so the game is unfair regardless. The unique thing about me is people liked my music before they really saw my face so me getting in the game because I have a (quote on quote) “pretty face” doesn’t apply to me. I’m so glad people just like my music so much then when they see me they are like “r u Rasheeda fo real” LOL!
What's your favourite song on the album and why?
“Compliment” is 1 its just basically saying the small things in a relationship are important sometimes out weight the big things. I like “Better off Alone” its so real to me sometimes we get into relationships that are unhealthy we want it but its not good for us and we really need to let go. That’s what “better off Alone” symbolizes the fact that as much as I want you I’m better off alone.
I love your song Boss chick, what a boss chick to you?
A Boss Chick is a independent, strong, intelligent, classy, sexy, respected woman who makes moves, takes charge and is not afraid to work hard to get what she wants. A woman in control, a leader.
Who are your top 3 boss chicks of all time?
1.My Mum
2 Oprah
3. Princess Diana
